These are some of my favorite arists to perform with as well as the work that I've been honored to be a part of. There are certain memories about performing with some artists that stick with me forever.
Jennifer Tefft: TIME IS A THIEF
Six years after her last release and over three years since leaving the stage, Jennifer Tefft returns with a long awaited new CD, "TIME IS A THIEF" on her own Gypsy Spin Music label. Recorded while pregnant with her second child, Once again, producer Fran Flannery pulled the best out of me.  The players on this album are some of my very favorites!
Evan Goodrow: Twenty Four Hour CD
We took the band and producer Fran Flannery to a fans house, created a recording studio and recorded a complete CD in just 24 hours! It came out great! Sounds like the studio, feels live. We did this in conjuction witha new reality TV show pilot so there will be a DVD out sometime this year.
Brian Doser: Get Up And Dance
The "box" came out of the closet again and ended up on all the tracks of Brians new Kids record. It's a great CD. Not too over produced and you can tell we hav a lot of fun making it.
Evan Goodrow: FLY
Making "FLY" was a great experience. I had just started working with Evan when he cut this album. What's fun about it is that it just hints at how the band would gel over the next year. If you like this recording, you have to see the band live, it's a joy to listen to and a joy to play in.
Barbara Kessler: RED YELLOW BLUE
Barbara's last record ended up being one of my most challenging recordings with the demanding excellence of producer Adam Steinberg, I was lead into an new heght of playing. What can I say about my wonderful Wife Barbara, these songs are great and the tune have been featured on TV shows over 100 times in the last couple years!
Barbara Kessler: NOTION
It's fairly easy to sum this one up. I got to drum on an album produced by my favorite drummer in the world, Jerry Marotta. Then to make the deal that much sweeter, Tony Levin ends up on the record and then Mark Shulman... Lets just say it's in the top ten experiences of my life. Loops on the Rolling-Rock box rig and all of Jerry's drums to play on!
Barbara Kessler: STRANGER TO THIS LAND
My first producer credit! And really, all I did was have an idea and get a great team together to produce Barbara's first record and luck out on an unbelieveable recording of her very first public perfomance with a band. This live record led BK to National airplay and distribution. Fun...
Todd Thibaud: SQUASH
Todd writes songs that just move me. The hardest part of this record was staying under control. The best part was touring Germany to promote it! I just wish we could have recorded this one after the band had toured together for awhile.
Todd Thibaud: LIVE AT TOAD
The spirit of one of my most favorite groups in the world to perform with is captured on this disc. I regret not getting a chance to record these tunes in the studio with this line up of Todd, Jeff and Thomas. Everyone had such a great spiritual connection with the music and with each other. I hope this DVD finds it's way out of Germany and into US distribution.
Todd Thibaud: HOT FM SESSIONS
When we toured Germany in November 2000, Blue Rose, Todd's German label managed to capture this live radio perfomance. I gues Hot-FM based in the Bavarian city of Hof has been taping these cool live band sessions since 1996. The best part is that I was playing a cardboard beer crate , a couple of beer cans, a fire extinguisher and whatever other crap I could find in the studio. AND, I never knew it was going to become a record. Just showed up on my desk a year later!
Radial Bliss: STIR
Tim Day and Andy Shultz put this project together and it is a great extension of where Tim's writing would progress to after Signs Of Life. Andy brought his passion for rock guitar and progressive arrangements. This album was so much fun to record. I just got to go crazy and all I had to play to was a scratch vocal and one guitar part. Jeff St.Pierre played bass and I thought we'd got the spirit during the session. The big surprise came when I heard the final mixes and got the full effect of some 20+ guitar tracks, layered vocals and one hell of a production. I had no idea this is the way the tracks would come out when the album was done.
Jennifer Tefft: SHIFT
Jenn is awesome. This was my first experience working with producer Flan Flannery. Fran has a gift of drawing performances out of everyone that exceeds anything they have ever performed before. He gets me to play beyond my own expectations. This record captures Jenn's rock goddess talent and has all the makings of one of the best "real woman" rock recordings I've ever heard. It's nice to know I was right: SHIFT won "ALTERNATIVE ALBUM OF THE YEAR" at The 2002 Just Plain Folks Music Awards were held on Saturday, March 1st, 2003 in Hollywood. They received 102,000 songs and 7880 albums for consideration.
Jennifer Tefft: DIG THIS THING
In 1997 Jenn got Jeff StPierre and I to go into the studio and play on a set of songs she had been working out in the Subway. These sessions turned out to be her debut album which most certainly put her on the road map as one of Boston's finest rock offerings. I had a great time just experimenting with cardboard box loops and multiple snare drum set ups. I try to play out with Jenn any time she asks. It's great to back up such a talented artist who doesn't seem to mind completely loosing it in front of a crowd!
Shecky( & The Pimp Monkeys):STIR
If and when you hear about a Shecky concert, be sure not to miss it. Mark Yurkovic aka Shecky gets out to play about once a year and he tours usually one to two gigs for each album he produces! Mark's writing and production is one of a kind and will warm your beatlesque heart.
Rob Laurens: THE HONEY ON THE MOUNTAIN
First of all, Rob is just one of those great people with a comforting spirit that crosses right over into every performance. I had a great day up at Tom Eaton's studio. Rob's got a great vibe going on this recording. You will not go wrong adding this one to your collection.
A RUBBER BAND CHRISTMAS
So I heard a track that Jeff StPeirre has done as a joke during his down time at work. I just thought that the world needed an entire album of Christmas music performed on office products. So we made a complete album and sent it out as Christmas cards. That turned into distribution and national airplay to the point of becoming a traditional play in some households. Still garnering the oddest acclaim, A Rubber Band Christmas has been placed in the Boston Museum of Bad Taste, has been featured on many morning shows including WBCN and WBCN, has been on the top 10 Christmas albums numerous times and a favorite of Dr. Dimento show. Still going strong, I don't think this CD is ever going away!
Zach Broocke THE ANYWHERE BUT HERE SESSIONS
The session was a lot of fun. Just a one day brush with some great talent. I was kind of hoping to play a CD release party or something like that but next thing you know, I think Zach went to Nashville! Can't blame him. (5 song demo)
Stephanie Corby FIREWORKS IN MARCH
©2001 I enjoyed working with Stephanie and producer John Plantania. I've done a few shows with Stephanie and she's unbelievable live. From soft soulful lyrics to belting out an emotional chorus, shes' awesome.
Timothy Mason and Geoff Bartley
This was a challenge. I have to say that I never know what to expect when Frank Coakley calls me in! Jeff and Tim have made a one of a kind mix of poetry and music that really touches on an underated and certainly emerging art form. I went in to the studio without a clue and just played what came to mind. It came out pretty cool.
Geoff Bartley
Frank Coakley calls me in to play the cardboard box rig. I had no idea what I was getting into but once I understood their vision to keep the vibe simple and authentic, I just relaxed and played the box with Jeff's soulful tracks. My first brush with Delta Blues. Up till that moment I was both intimidated and in awe of both Jeff and Frank. After the sessions, I wasn't intimidated any more as they were great at communicating their love for music. I was and still am in awe.
Signs of Life:LIVE AT THE BOX
In 1995 Jeff StPierre decided to make a record in one week. So we dragged recording equipment and Mark Tanzer to Nantucket to record our gig at the Chicken Box. Jeff mixed the album in 3 days. We had it pressed in Canada and we picked up the discs 8 hours before our big gig at "Spud Fest" in Caribou Maine. The album came out great and still surprises me when I get the coourage to listen to it. We sent the artwork out before we knew what tracks would be on the CD, so none of the tracks match up to the track list and there are a lot more tracks then we planned! Spud Fest turned out to be Eddy Money playing to 500 cops and a massive crowd of about 250 people. (Dud Fest) but we got a great album out of it!
Signs of Life NEVER ENOUGH
1993...Me and the boys finally made it into a real studio. I was scared to death and of course, in '93, with 2" tape, no overdubs for me! My first band that I really pretended I was a rock star. It's a great album of the early collaboration of talented writers who would turn into unbelievable solo artists. These guys will forever remain my family.
Finbarr GARBAGE, DRAMA, FANTASY
©2001 One great session, one CD release party and he moves to Ireland! Smart MF. Great Irish rock, raw and full of passion. Producer Jim Sampas has a great, relaxed and effective way of getting great takes out of his artists.
Timothy Riordan:PICK ME UP
©2004 I was psyched that Tim asked me to paly on his 5 song EP. His roots and infulences touch so many aspects of my own history from workiing with Peter Mulvey to performing and manufacturing the This Is Boston Not Austin series. I can't wait to hear the next batch of tune Tim cooks up!
Bob Meloon and The Big Argurment: SECRET OF SUCCESS
©1988 The first CD I ever played on! The very beginnings of what would become the man the myth the legend Bob Malone. We recorded most of the bsics at Berklee College of Music, sneaking 2" reels of tape in and out of student sessions and then mixing them down the street. So we took our college education and came out with a record. It was definately a leg up in the scene to be one of the first independent bands with their own Compact Disc. (How time flies) We toured the Northeast for years and then I convinced Bob to move out to LA to become a star. Course, I screwed up and didn't go along. And, Bob became a star. I still get a chance to paly with Bob when he tours the NorthEast and leaves his LA band at home!
Amy Fairchild
For a couple of months I got to do some live shows with Amy Fairchild. I had a great time. The band was excellent and Amy has IT. She puts on such a compelling performance and is a wonderful songwriter. If you haven't seen Amy live, you owe it to yourself.
Jennifer Kimball
I had to put Jennifer on this list even though I only got to perform with her ONCE! But that show at Kerville Folk Festival was a great day for me. I've always loved Jennifer's voice and couldn't believe I was up there performing with her! What a blast.
